Kings & Queens of darkness

Dancing with those devils in the fading moonlight,
Set to manipulating you in the darkening night,
Yet still you danced, clinging oh so tight,

Whispered dark nothings hold you close as you spin,
Your heart slowly eroding & wearing down thin,
Ignoring the rot & the gnawing deep within,

Another twist, another turn, seals your windows & doors,
Well worn synchronised steps, that won a million wars
With your fragile existence in those relentless sharp claws,

They dig & they delve, they pry & they poke,
Views so skewed, of who you are, rammed down your throat 'til you choke,
Judged by their own actions through the mirrors and smoke,

Don't look back in anger nor into those eyes or you'll drown,
Lift up & away from being dragged down,
They'll be happy without you, their own darkness a crown,
