Efflorescence

A yearning to return to that luscious life, dripping droplets from April showers,
The stench just lingers, trapped in the house, please don't kill the flowers,

Watching in awe of their beauty, in those final moments I wait,
Filling the air with lifes' last fragrant breathe, is now their only fate,

Petals falling like autumnal leaves, Weakened and losing their powers,
Defenceless, Determined yet defiant, - Please stop picking the flowers,

Ripped from their roots to sit pretty for a day,
Don't pick the flowers for there is another way,

Bring me flowers still strong, right down to their roots,
If you could love them enough then they'll grow new shoots,
Be alive, proud and tall, straight and strong as towers,
And please remember to stop picking the damn flowers,
